The San Diego native ORTEGAGOTGAME is making a name for himself in his city. ORTEGAGOTGAME new single “56” is crazy dope. ORTEGAGOTGAME states: ‘I made this record for my hometown. Super bouncy & melodic, I believe I have my own style and I just wanted to show my city who I am.’

We had a moment to catch up with ORTEGA to see what’s new and to check out his new single.

1) What keeps you motivate when it comes to your music?
I stay motivated by being able to wake up everyday & be able to just jump in the lab & create a record whenever I want . Took me years to finally create the sound I have now at my home studio. So reminding myself that I was able to accomplish having industry standard studio equipment myself motivates me to continue .
2) When you think of “Vintage Media Group”, what comes to mind?
 I been following your blog for a few months and I fuck with it heavy. So many different artist I didn’t know about until I read articles on VMG . Would say is a awesome platform for upcoming artist like myself to be a part of .
3) Being that you are from San Diego, what is the state of Hip-Hop there? How would you titled your style of music?
San Diego hip hop scene is crazy right now. A lot of talent in the city. I can see in a few years a bigger outlet will be available in the town and you will see a huge wave coming from San Diego. We defiantly going to be making some noise . I would say my style is so versatile I have records where I can rap then I have records where I’m on the melody auto tune wave then I’m on records where I sing for all the women in the world & I even have Latin records. So i can say my style is unique because I can do more then one style .
4) With your most recent music single “56” is Crazy Fire… Can you give us some details on how you came up with that song?

It all started while I was watching charger highlights from the early 2000’s in the studio & I grew up watching 55 & 59 l, my all time favorite linebackers who played in the NFL. Once I saw the lights out celebration it took me back when I would go to charger games and just get amped up whenever 56 made a play. Which is why I decided to run with the whole “56” record . A home town record that people can relate to. What is San Diego without the history of the bolts & a legend like Merriman. So it all started when I said “ 56 on my back like I’m Merriman “ basically to signify I’m going to be a legend like 56 in my city.

6) Who are some of your influences? 
My biggest influence would be YG hands down. Defiantly got to get him on a record would be a goal of mine. Can’t forget about the goat Drake as well & my big homie Rossi Rock another artist from San Diego is somebody who I look up to when it comes to music .
7) Any Last Remarks?
A lot of hot records on the way I can see myself making a name for myself in the industry . ORTEGAGOTGAME 2020 XXL freshmen candidate for sure stay tuned.
