Shamon Dae – Brand New Dae Album Is A Breath Of Fresh Air (VMG Exclusive)
0

Hailing from Dayton, Ohio, Shamon Dae is a Hip-Hop Artist/Songwriter who always sets out to deliver quality music with an eclectic and open-minded approach, deeply connected from his life experiences.

After working and collaborating with a ton of artists on multiple projects, Shamon Dae started The Administrative Music Group with fellow emcee Phillip Nickelz and released the EP “Stimulus Package” and his debut mixtape “28 Beats Later”.

Following great responses, Shamon Dae is armed with his official debut album “Brand New Dae”. Shamon Dae perfectly matches the feel of his lyrics with great production. “This project was created in memory of my mother, who passed away from cancer. I went through a writer’s block for a while but once I was able to create again, I was fully able to tap into my music again. I feel proud of what we were able to create.

As hinted by the title, this work will represent a huge step forward, as Dae keeps improving on his personal and clever lyrical flow, as providing great energy and melody in equal doses, perfectly matching the feel of his lyrics.

“I’m just ready for people to hear this project! This comes from a place that at times I wasn’t comfortable sharing with people, but with everything that’s going on I feel that it is a perfect time.”

Producers for Brand New Dae album:
Dre Manuel (Tracks 1,4,5,6,8,9,10,11)
Sunny Lexington (Tracks 2,3)
Ronald Frost (Track 7)

Was primarily recorded with Timmy Woodz at Woodstock Studios
Mixed/Mastered by Dre Manuel of Safehouse Studios

We had a moment to sit down with Shamon Dae to talk about the new project and more…

1) What keeps you motivated when it comes to your music?
Overall the creation process, for me making music is finding a creative way to express life situations. There’s no better feeling than someone telling me they really felt something I created.
2) When you think of “Vintage Media Group”, what comes to mind?
Consistency. I know personally, how you’ve been on your grind to build this from the ground up and seeing it take off like this I salute you for it.
3) Being that you are from Dayton, Ohio aka “Home Of Funk Music” what is the state of Hip-Hop there? How would you title your style of music?
I have a lot of pride being born and raised in Dayton because it’s such a rich history of musical talent that has come from here for so long. I think we’re in a great spot now because the lane is wide open with every genre of music and there’s still so much talent in my city it’s crazy.
Established artists are finding new ways to create and taking tips from other artists as well.
The younger artist is showing some of the vets to just create and not overthink the process. We all have to accept that things have changed in the music business, as well as the world, but with that, more opportunities to get your music out there are available.
As far as my style, I stopped trying to fit myself in a box years ago. I currently work in multiple genres from conscious hip-hop, Street, Pop, R&B, Rock, and on occasion Country. Hip-Hop/Rap is my base of course, but ultimately I go where the music takes me.
4) With your most recent project, “Brand New Dae” is FIRE, I Really Like It… Can you give us some details on how you came up with the idea for Brand New Dae?

Thanks, bro I appreciate that. The whole concept was a final gift to my mother who passed away from cancer. In one of our last conversations, the main focus was to “Finish your music, I can’t wait to hear it completed.” When she passed, I lost all motivation to create for myself.
It took a while, I was able to bounce back, but I was only able to provide songwriting services to my clients. Everything I wrote for myself I hated. By creating for other artists, helped my in two ways. It made me a better writer by fully stepping into their shoes and it allowed me to gradually find my voice again.
Her voice continued to echo in my head to finish, so I had to finally listen. I teamed up with Dre Manuel, Sunny Lexington, and Timmy Woodz to create some concepts and knock out the recording. I also felt the need to do an official rebrand, my original stage name was Cardiac but over time there were too many similar names in the business so I chose to use my real name and with the album title, it’s represented as a rebirth since I’m a “new artist” to so many people but I embrace that.
5) Where can your fans & supporters find you online? Via Twitter, Facebook, etc.?
Contact Shamon Dae:
6) Who are some of your influences?
My main two are Jay-Z and OutKast, both are the reasons I started doing music in the first place. I wanted to be able to tell a story that you can visualize and that all started with their music. Also watching Jay-Z’s growth from an artist to where he is now is motivation within itself.
7) Any Last Remarks?
Overall, I’m very proud of what this album has turned out to be, and I’m blessed to have so many talented artists and producers from my city to be apart of this.
Go listen to the project! I just want everyone to have a good time with the music. I would love to hear people’s feedback, so tag me once you check it out @shamon.dae and let me know which 3 tracks you like.
I’m big on artist’s collaborations too, so if any artist wants to work let’s get it.
The last thing is I also have a review channel on YouTube called Ride or Fly it covers multiple genres of music so check me out there and subscribe http://youtube.com/shamondae
