“I’m choosing to get back to my essence and just feed the core hip-hop fans.-Nicki Minaj [Hot97 Interview]”
Nicki Minaj met up with the Hot97 crew for an interview led by Peter Rosenberg. Rosenberg is a die hard hip-hop head whom is accredited for giving underground artists leverage in the industry. Despite the hashing of the beef between Nicki and Peter that rooted from a comment made by him about his dislike for “Starships” , this was not the highlight of the interview…not for me at least. The most exciting part is when Nicki announced that she was going back to the old Nicki, musically. I will never take-a-way from the success of Nicki Minaj and her pop music, because it’s the pop that catapulted her to the next level of her career and turned Nicki Minaj into a world renowned artist. But the underground artist Nicki Minaj, whom was a bit explicit, but had the crazy word play, and was killin features on songs with Hip-Hop’s heavy weights is the woman we fell in love with. During the interview with Hot 97 she slid in that she will begin writing for her third album after filming wraps for her upcoming movie with Cameron Diaz. In the meantime I’m sure over the course of the rest of this year we’ll be getting some ill features from Nicki on a few tracks.
