(New Exclusive Interview) Ciana Pelekai Talks Music With Vintage Media Group

1. How long have you been doing music?

I’ve sang since the age of 4, started doing singing lessons at the age of 6. From there I just kept going with my music and now I’m 18

2. How did you get your name “Ciana Pelekai” and what does it mean?

Ciana Means “God is Gracious”My parents chose ciana because they said it was a unique name. Pelekai is a Hawaiian name, pele is one of the goddess of Hawaii, the goddess that creates fire, volcanoes, and the Hawaiian islands and kai means water or sea.

3. Breakdown your single “Bluff’ and how it came about?

Well I knew Bluff was the song for me because it was more of style like Ariana Grande music. Bluff is about of course a boy that a girl liked, but she kept putting her heart, and soul into their relationship & he was bluffing the whole time.

4. How does your environment that you grow up in, effect the type of music you create?

I was born, and raised in Hawaii. Where I’m from it’s very challenging for me as a singer to pursue my singing career. On O’ahu it’s more of Local Hawaiian music, and I loved that type of genre, however I’ve always wanted to become a R&B/Pop music artist. In Hawaii there wasn’t many opportunities for me to become a professional R&B singer, but I just kept going, and posting more of my style of music on social media. From there, I would fly back and forth to the mainland, because of the opportunities we have had up here in LA, New York, Chicago etc..

5.  Breakdown the music scene in Hawaii and what part do you play in it?

I am auditioning for the part of Princess Kaiulani, She is a teen who has been the last princess to be crowned. She was the Hawaiian princess who attempts to maintain the independence of the islands against the threat of American colonization. The songs in the musical are about the history she’s had with her people, about Hawaii, and what she did to help. Also, some songs are about a boy that she eventually fell in love with named “James.”

6. Where do you see your brand and career in the next 5 years?
I hope to see my brand grow more, and I really would love to grow more as an artist. I have a huge fan base. Right now this is just the start, but in the 5 years I hope to be able to already have couple albums released, and go on tour around the world to perform for many people. I also would love to have my own merchandises, and again to live in Beverly Hills, California.
