Check Out The Dope 21 year old producer Kira Hachi aka “Killer Bee” releases the second single from his upcoming project ‘Venus EP’ VMG Had The Opportunity To Sit Down And Find Out What Killer Bee Been Up To.

1) What keeps you motivate when it comes to your music?

I think just listening to dope beats keeps me motivated. Whenever I come across a great song on Soundcloud I always think “Damn, that’s good. I wish I made that.” I think it’s important to aspire to be great. Collaboration with my fellow ONEDAYTHOUGH collective mates also keeps me motivated. Seeing what they create with my beats or what we build together definitely inspires me to keep pushing to be better.

2) When you think of “Vintage Media Group”, what comes to mind?

I think VMG definitely captures the essence of hip hop today and it’s a very respected blog, I’m excited to be featured on it.

3) Being that you are from New York, what is the state of Hip-Hop there? How would you titled your style of music?

I believe the New York hip-hop scene is thriving. There is almost a renewal of the same spirit (I think) that was around in the 90s. With rappers like A$AP Rocky to Joey Bada$$, New York’s scene is very diverse. I’m not from Harlem or Brooklyn, so I can’t say that my music is inspired by the same things, but my dad lives in Manhattan so hopefully I remind people that it’s not just Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens etc. putting out great music. It’s the whole city, and I want to bring that sleek metropolitan style to my sound. I hesitate putting one label on my style, because I think it varies at different times, but I would say my style is ‘versatile.’

4) With your most recent single “Fantasy” is Crazy DOPE, very unique. can you give us some details on how you came up with that song?

I have various aliases. Killer Bee is my original and the one I use the most since I mainly produce hip hop beats, but my lo-fi dream-hop alias is called Kirā Hachi. My upcoming debut EP under that alias is titled “Venus EP” after the Sailor Moon character, so that whole project is definitely inspired by Japanese pop culture, as well as dope producers in the lo-fi scene like bsd.u, Fumei, Saito, and a host of others. The “Fantasy” features a sample from the movie ‘Spirited Away’ by Miyazaki. It sounded beautiful and I thought it would be dope to give it a lo-fi hip hop vibe to it.

5) Where can your fans & supporters find you online? Via Twitter, Facebook, etc.?

You can find me on twitter @prodbykillerbee or my soundcloud soundcloud.com/prodbykillerbee. I usually re-stream all my aliases’ projects and obviously my Kirā Hachi stuff.

6) Who are some of your influences?

I’m influenced by great producers such as Nujabes, Kanye West, Shlohmo, 40, Tyler, The Creator, and more. Basically any producer that has innovated within their genre. I respect anyone who pushes the boundaries sonically.

7) Any Last Remarks?

Just that I hope fans will enjoy the new cut and if so, to look out for my ‘Venus EP’ which drops May 7.
