Custom Nike dress shoes made for Griffey’s big day.
As Ken Griffey Jr. took his rightful place in the Pro Baseball Hall of Fame, longtime endorsement partner Nike celebrated with a special pair of cleats worn by athletes across MLB. Little did we know that they cooked up something for Junior to wear as well.
Today, Griffey gave his fans a closer look at his footwear from the Hall of Fame Ceremony — a custom pair of dress shoes made by Nike. The brown leather oxfords are marked by the Swoosh on the toe and insole.
Griffey’s shoes mark a rare foray into dress for Nike, who sold subsidiary Cole Haan in 2012. This is probably a sign of things to come when players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James make their way to the Hall in the coming years.
