VMG had a moment to sit down with Kaseek Ortiz find out more about his new project, and what’s next from the Massachusetts native.

1) What keeps you motivate when it comes to your music?

I can grab motivation from almost every situation or person in my life, the circle of people I keep always believe in who I am which makes me strive. My son definitely helps keep me motivated as well since he depends on me being that “role model” not to mention he’s my little biggest fan.

2) When you think of “Vintage Media Group”, what comes to mind?

I instantly start thinking of good old fashioned quality media wether it’s fashion, music talent, or something that holds nostalgia.

3) Being that you are from Fitchburg, Massachusetts what is the state of Hip-Hop there? How would you titled your style of music?

The state of hip hop in Fitchburg I’d say is evolving in a good way; plenty of people do music out this way the scene is not huge but you can’t deny and say it’s not there either, mostly in Massachusetts there’s been I’d say a “Dark Cloud” over us meaning for the most part we really gotta travel out of state to make noise because there seems to be a huge lack of support in the state overall for any artist; until you get put on that is… How would I title my style? It’s difficult for me being in the box to consider myself all one style, I have a bit of variety in my music, some songs have more feelings than others.  If I really had to class myself I guess it would be alternative rap, because I blur everything together, whenever I’m in a writing session the music chooses me, I don’t really choose the music, the music tells me what to write whether it comes off gangsta, happy, sad, angry, it is what it is. The music triggers my feelings and at that point the song is already written..

4) With your most recent EP ” Long Story Short The EP ” which is Crazy NICE, I Really Like It… can you give us some details on how you came up with that song?

Word thank you, The EP was more of a “lost tapes” vibe since i had a hard drive crash full of masters. I was only able to salvage some of the music back, which 4 out of the 8 tracks on LSSEP had a lot more personal meaning to me that I really wanted people to hear, rather than dropping as singles I thought it would be perfect time to create a project while I’m rebranding myself. The name “Long Story Short The EP”was self explanatory as it being a really short touch on who I am as a person and my feelings.

5) Where can your fans & supporters find you online? Via Twitter, Facebook, etc.?

I go by Kaseek Ortiz on just about all my social media to make it easier for people to follow my career.

6) Who are some of your influences?

A lot that’s for sure; 2pac played a huge part in me wanting to do music, Nas for being ultra smooth and knowledgeable, DMX because of how gritty and raw feelings he gave, Big Pun the Puerto Rican Lyrical monster! But almost too many to name but some others are LEF, The Game, Ice Cube, NWA, Tech N9ne, E-40 and so many more.

7) Any Last Remarks?

Stay positive, speak positive, may the universe continue to manifest positivity in your life. Peace and blessings!
