An Interview With Ursula Maria

We recently spoke to the beautiful and talented Austrian actress Ursula Maria about her endeavors and upcoming projects in LA. 2016 looks to be an exciting year for her and we can’t wait to hear all about it. Here is what Ursula had to say:

Hi Ursula, since we last spoke to you, you have been up to some really exciting things including some short and feature films. I would love to talk to you about all of that. First of all, now that you have been living in Los Angeles for a few years, do you miss your hometown in Austria?

Hey! No I don’t. Not really. I mean, I miss my family and friends but I have just been back for Christmas so it’s all good. Of course there are things that I think are amazing back home but I decided to move to LA for specific reasons and those haven’t changed. I actually fell in love with the city more than I thought I would. It’s a beautiful city, a little crazy for sure, but also full of creative people and opportunities. Fortunately, I have been blessed to have made some amazing friends here.

Have you found it difficult to transition into the LA lifestyle? Or do you feel you have easily adjusted?

I am not sure if I have transitioned into the LA lifestyle at all to be honest, I don’t even know what that would be or if there is such a thing. I have adjusted to the city, but I think that there isn’t just one lifestyle that is representative of a place. Of course, there are a lot of things to do in LA and many of those things can’t be done anywhere else, but it is a big city with a lot of different people who have different goals and therefore, very different ways of living.

That makes sense. Tell us about some of the films you have recently done and was there anything that stood out for you? Are you excited about a specific project?

I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people lately, and I am very grateful for that. I am excited to see each finished project and just this week, I got to see teasers and clips from some of the movies. It’s fascinating to see how much can be altered in post production, not just with the edits but also with the work that is done on the color and sound. I got to see a cut of “The Connected”, a black and white movie I did last year and I am super excited to see it when it’s completely finished. It is a story about a crime that connects different people in strange ways. Another project I have had the opportunity to get a sneak peak of is “Loop”, a horror short that we filmed in Chicago this year. It is already cut and will be out soon, once the work on the sound is finished. I am also looking forward to see “Party at Jill’s” which is a little thriller I was happy to be a part of this year and “Broken Angels”, a movie about teenagers dealing with a harsh home life, who find solace in friendship.

Awesome! What was unique about each of the projects?

I loved the intensity of “Loop” and that my character isn’t the person you would think she is. “The Connected” was awesome because we barely used any dialogue, so you have to tell the story without using words. “Party at Jill’s” was a lot of fun because it is actually taking place at a party, and I have met some of the most amazing and dedicated young actors on that set. “Broken Angels” is very different since the characters are teenagers and are going through very difficult times in their lives.

How about this year, any projects lined up so far?

Yes. I am happy to have been cast in the fantasy drama “The Element of Spirit” by Erica Lindsey Ross that we’ll be shooting a teaser for in January. I am also looking forward to binge a part of “Make It Big”, a comedy by Steven Karageanes and “Judgement”, a drama by Stan Harrington. I am also of course, excited to see what else this year may bring.

Sounds like a great start for 2016!

Absolutely!
