Ike Ellis – Cornbread [Intro]

The cornbread intro have a crazy story in it’s development. I actually have three other beats that were intended to be the intro. However, I ran into Picassoul and he was trying to start a group. He sent me the beats like I can’t do anything with these beats for his album music while cruising. I heard “nothing is impossible ” and the “cornbread” and immediately had words for them. The intro had to set the tone for the album. I found the audio from this movie call “Mandingo” where a slave have sex with a white mans wife. Great movie by the way, but back to the intro the mix was so hard to complete. The vocals were higher than the instrumentation, but if you turn the instrumentation louder then the vocals would be drowned by the base. I had to use a certain type re-verb to get an amazing balance. The crazy part about this track it was never meant to be on the cornbread album. It was suppose to be on the league album which is Ike Ellis and Picassoul group but the beat just fell in my lap and I am grateful for this sound.
