In a familiar lucid nightmare, the world is in isolation, and humankind is coming apart at the seams. Callousness and loneliness seem to be the only completing states of mind. People have forgotten something important.

A timeless and mysterious figure emerges suddenly, wielding an extraordinary power rooted in dance; this power is intended to awaken our better collective nature, but for one young man, it might be too little too late, as the isolation has pushed him to the brink.

This artistic music film is creating quite the buzz in the film festival circuit. It was nominated at the Berlin Short Film Festival, the 4th Dimension Film Festival in Indonesia, and won ‘Best direction’ at the Vesuvius film festival in Italy.

It’s the break-out role for actress and dancer Miranda Chen, who originates from Taiwan. Filmmaker’s Jason W Thompson and Josias Tschanz (the latter is also the lead vocalist in the band) wanted to create something that would transcend the pandemic, knowing that the state of the world was already in flux long before the challenging times and that the pandemic was the tipping point for many.

“We all know what damage the pandemic has caused physically, but we wanted to dig into the mental health challenges people are dealing with, especially when they are secluded or in isolation”, Tschanz states. “One of the most positive aspects that emerged from the pandemic is that it reminded some of us of what truly matters to us and to never take things for granted,” he added.

“For me, this story began before our current challenges. It’s felt like there was something pathological brewing long before this; a pandemic of the mind, and Covid19 really just ratcheted things up.” Thompson says, “I miss dancing. I miss pure expression. I miss tender outreach and the kind love that heals. It’s strange, but it feels almost like people don’t trust the concept of love anymore. I hope this film helps to remind them…”

SINS is the band’s second official music video, a follow-up after the successful single ‘Astronaut.’ SINS (the Music video) was entirely shot over a year in Vancouver, Squamish, and Ashcroft in British Columbia, Canada.

“It feels extraordinary to combine our love for music and film through this project. It was such a pleasure working with such a talented team that devoted all their talent to making this project come alive.” says a grateful Tschanz.
