Performing since the age of 5- Dimitra Barla
Dimitra Barla is an amazing actress who got her start at the age of five with dance. She loved dancing and continued as a classical dancer. She then grew into a contemporary dancer, and finally an actress at the age of ten. She worked very hard throughout school to become the amazingly talented woman that she is today.
Dimitra went on to study at the Embros Drama School after graduating from high school and received her Diploma in Acting from the Greek Ministry of Culture. She moved to London, to pursue her Masters in Acting at the East 15 Acting School. During this time, she would spend her summers in Toronto, Canada where she trained with Le Theatre L’Homme Company.
Dimitra has had a lot of training to perfect her impressive acting skills, and it has definitely paid off. She has been in many films, commercials, and theatrical performances. She has played the role in plays such as Last Night I Met You Dreaming, Dona Rosita, and Medusa: The Lady In The Mirror. Medusa: The Lady In The Mirror has been her favorite role to play so far, it was a solo show and she truly commanded the stage. This play is a re-telling of a Greek myth that explores contemporary depression and she dove into her own deep emotions and memories to portray the character as honestly as she could. Her amazing ability to captivate the audience was extraordinary. Dimitra also has worked as the lead on many films including Not By Choice, Fire and Ice, Take This Waltz, Nausicaa, and The Cypress Deep Down. Not only is she a wonderful actress, but she is a director and a writer as well. She has been working on a monologue that she plans to use as a short film and possibly stage the production of it. Dimitra is clearly a very impressive woman, and she is really just getting started.
