So you want to get your music placed on a music website , blog, etc, but dont know how? Here are some tips for everyone to give your product a better chance of being showcased when sending your email:

1.Properly tag your music. The #1 problem we get is “track 01”. How is someone supposed to know what track 01? Make sure to name your track with artist name and then the track title. Also, tag your MP3 using JetAudio or another program so that when the MP3 plays in a Ipod, phone, your information is displayed on screen.

2.Do not send WAVs/WMA/OGG etc: Ensure that you use Mp3s for the most part. Most websites and upload services do not accept wma/ogg etc. Also, unless you are trying to have you music placed on a physical cd, a WAV is overkill due to the size of the file. Its all about how fast website can download and upload your music for your.

3. Artwork: CELL PHONE BATHROOM PICTURES DO NOT = ARTWORK. If you don’t have a budget to take a HQ picture, a simple 500 x 500 promo made in MS Paint will look better. Also, do not send the actual RAW image file that is 3000x 2000 in a email. Crop the picture to no more that 500x 500

4.Include your contact info in your email. Twitter/FB/phone #. Also include where you are from( city, state, crew you rep)

5.Finally, don’t send mass emails out with “whatup my nigaa, check my music”. You have no idea sometimes who is running the site. They could be Jewish, Asian, whatever. Just state who you are, a simple blurb about your music , and ask for your music to be placed on the site. Be professional until you know who is on the other side of the email.
