Vienna based furniture and product designer Klemens Schillinger recently unveiled his second project dedicated to helping tech addicts. The Substitute Phone serves as a followup to the Offline Lamp and functions as a calming limitation that helps smartphone addicts going through withdrawal. The Substitute Phone features stone beads incorporated into a smartphone-shaped and weighted acetal body, which allows users to perform scroll, zoom and swipe motions. The absence of digital function is used to wean addicts off of the repetitive “checking behavior” routine created by smartphones. Check out the Substitute Phone above and stay tuned for a release via Klemens Schillinger’s website in the near future.

For more design news, Helder Vices recently unveiled its new minimalist nature-inspired “PIMA” furniture collection.
