“With the joining of these great organizations, we hope to continue the efforts of so many other organizations and the City of Chicago to create opportunities throughout the year for our youth and challenge our city to do even more on the ground.” -Common

While often times in the media Kanye is protrayed a mean villan, on extremely, very rare occassions do we see him make headlines for his good samaritian efforts. Kanye West along with Common are teaming together in an effort to create year-round jobs for Chicago’s youth. Based from a report in January, 92% of Chicago’s young black males are unemployeed. Common’s Common Ground Foundation, and Kanye West’s Donda’s House, in partnership with five other organizations are joining together with the intention to create 1,000 jobs for the Chi’s youth. Jobs will begin at the end of September, and by 2015 they hope to have impacted 15,000 youths. In addition to creating new jobs the organizations will host several Open Mic events giving the youth an opportunity to express themselves in a fun, safe, positive enironment. Some talents willbe selected at the Open Mic events to perform at AAHH!! Fest in September.
