Honestly, we don’t know exactly how this IKEA customization trend started but, we’re definitely not mad it. Not only does the furniture and housing appliance brand have product for the low, they also have a dope kitchen/refreshment area as well. Stay Woke. Back to the matter at hand, we’ve seen multiple uses for the classic jacquard woven IKEA bags from hats to clothing to even ventilation masks creatives are utilizing every aspect of the reusable material for whatever they choose and now we might have run into the ultimate IKEA sneaker customization to date thanks to none other than the creative director of Andfersand, @edmondlooi, who took applied the textures of IKEA product to the adidas UltraBOOST.
It’s unclear what the original colorway of the UltraBOOST but it’s visible that the sneaker does feature a white Primeknit woven base complete with jacquard IKEA blue overlays that act as a mudguard and even cover the notorious synthetic heel counter while the Three Stripe lacing system is replaced by the IKEA yellow base of the bag, a textile hand strap hits the vamp replacing the lacing system while a zip tie holds the brand new lacing system in place. Scannable tags also can be found near the vamp and heel counter of the kicks as well while the BOOST technology midsole cushioning system comes in blue and the Continental outsole in yellow.
Much respect to Edmond for taking his time out to curate these joints and continue to push forward for the culture. With that being said, would you rock an IKEA x adidas UltraBOOST? Let us know in the comment section below.
